KELLOGG HUBBARD LIBRARY

2004 AIA Vermont Excellence in Architecture Award

An Italianate-style granite building built in 1894, the Kellogg Hubbard Library is often described as the "Jewel" of Montpelier. This project involved a complete restoration of the existing historic building, including seamless introductions of all new systems and a significant 8,000 square foot addition to house the new Children's library and to expand overall shelf and administrative space. The new entry's lantern configuration modestly compliments the bay window of the original library's main facade and provides an inviting view into two levels of the library.
