Hunger Mountain Co-op
A Community Owned Store
The design of the Hunger Mountain Co-op is similar to a marketplace. The spatial sequence focuses on products and encourages chance interactions.
The shed structures are honest and environmentally friendly by reducing the materials used in construction and using energy recovery in the mechanical systems. The forms are distinguished by different siding materials and the roof allows daylight into the space. The cooperative is in Montpelier’s riverfront redevelopment zone next to historic granite sheds, where it is linked to downtown by a bike/pedestrian path.
