This project was a vacation Home for a family of four to contrast their daily urban lifestyle in Boston. The client had a desire to have a connection with the landscape in an environmentally responsible way.
The 2,400 sf home is on five acres of steep hillside within a perpetually conserved forest. The home rests lightly on the site, in a tight development footprint, with the drive forming a play surface between the garage/loft.

The roof form follows the contour of the land and the Mondrian green tones on the functional zones of the house reference the language of the foliage. The trees grow right up to the house and the inside feels very open to the forest. Interior forms continue to the outside at the massive hearth wall and upper suspended porches with flooring and ceiling moving from inside to outside.
